Our trip to Jacksonville

As most of you know, we just got back from the ACC Tournament in Jacksonville, FL. We had a lot of fun but it was a pretty exhausing trip! The Cavaliers made a great showing at the tournament. They came into the tournament as the #6 seed. Our conference is very competitive - the #1, #2, and #3 teams in the country are in our conference. We ended up on the most difficult side of the bracket, facing #1 North Carolina and #3 Florida State and Wake Forest. We beat North Carolina in a grueling 11 inning game that lasted until 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday night. We beat FSU (rain delay included) in a game that lasted 4 hours and 15 minutes on Friday night. Winning both of these games got us to the Championship game on Sunday. We still had to play the late game (again lasting until 1:30 a.m.) against Wake on Saturday night. The Championship Game was on Sunday against Miami. The odds were not in our favor but there is always next weekend. More to come on that...

Kason enjoyed his trip to Florida. He loves the ballgame and insisted upon staying up for the better part of all of the games. Luckily, the late nights didn't change his sleeping any. We got to spend a lot of time with Heather and Gavin (cousins). We had dinner one night, did a little shopping another day, and spent most of the day Saturday with them and their friends. Kason really likes the swimming pool and the nice grass in Florida. He and Hefner (Heather and Gavin's dog) became great friends. Hefner shared kisses and Kason shared his baby duckies.

Yesterday was the selection show for the NCAA Tournament. Our Regional (yes, they do call it a "regional") is at Cal State Fullerton. Other teams in our bracket are Cal State Fullerton, UCLA, and Rider. The team will leave tomorrow. Kason and I are opting out this weekend. If they win, we will go next weekend. For any of you that get ESPN-U, the games from our Regional will be shown on that channel. Hope you can watch and root on the Wahoos!!!

New Tricks...

Kason has been clapping for several weeks now. This is the first video we have of it. As you can see, he was pretty wound up and distracted. Clapping wasn't his main focus. Of course it is sideways (there has to be a way to fix this) and very dark. I have got to figure out what wierd setting my camera is on. Clapping is the only thing he does on command. He clapped continuously through the whole game last night. I even had to stop him a few times when he was clapping when our batters had strikes on them. I am sure just as he figures out we are the white team, we will take him to an away game!

Always behind...

It may only be once a month, but I haven't given up yet!

Kason's visit from his Aunt Kris and Uncle Jon was tons of fun. They enjoyed seeing one of Karl's games and lots of the surrounding area. We loved getting to spend time with them. Of course we had to put Kason's handy Uncle Jonny to work!!! Thanks for installing our new light switches and my keyless remote! Here are a few more pics from their visit...

Gary came to visit for the Wake Forest series. So did our good friend Steve. It was another fun time for Kason. As usual, he got plenty of attention.

He spent lots of time outdoors with Gary and even threw up on Steve at the ball game. They both made lots of fun of his belly. Actually, it had nothing to do with his belly. I think they were making fun of the shirt that his mom dressed him in that was obviously too small!!

Gary, I wanted to make sure tha twe got a picture of you and your favorite hill - I mean baby - on the blog!

Kason spent a little time in the dugout with dad after Sunday's game.

The following Saturday, we took part in the Dogwood Festival Parade. Ms. Melissa at the dance studio needed a stand in for the Kindermusik float. We helped get it all set up and then rode in the parade. Kason had so much fun watching the horses and laying on a blanket eating grass before the parade started. Of course, riding on the float was his favorite part. As usual, he thougth the crowd was there just to see him!

We had a busy afternoon on Sunday, too. Kason's first friend turned 1 year old last week. Happy Birthday, Tyler. We went to Tyler's birthday party. It was lots of fun. No cake for Kason, but he celebrated by eating about 100 Gerber Puffs. He thought he was so cool. He and Mr. Jeff waved to the camera and he and Tyler had so much fun playing with Coco's leash. What a party!

After the birthday party, we drove to Richmond for our cousin Mari Blair's confirmation. Actually, we didn't make it for the confirmation, just for the celebration afterwards - and we were late for that. Kason just has a very full social calendar! Here is a picture of him and Mari. I have also attached a video of him copying EVERYTHING she did! Actually, you can't see much because it is dark and short. (I was low on memory in my camera.) Good thing he is a baby...otherwise, we would be worried about her....(not to say that we don't)...

Those are all of the pictures I have for now. Last week the team was off for finals. We got to spend a little more time together than usual. Karl and I finally went to see Van Halen - after it got cancelled two times. We went to a festival at Montpelier. Karl did a little traveling. We went to see Gary Allen at the Pavilion downtown this week. We had been looking forward to that for a long time. Of course we had horrible storms and were under tornado watches. I went home to relieve the babysitter, but they ended up cutting the concert short anyway so I didn't miss anything. This weekend we played North Carolina. It was a tough one. We got beat on Friday and Saturday night but won on Sunday. We have Georgia Tech coming up and then the conference tournament starts in Jacksonville, FL on May 21st.

Congratulations to Uncle Jonathan!!! His baseball team made it to the State Tournament!!! They played this past weekend. The Dragons won their first game against Bauxite. Sadly, they lost the second game on Saturday. This is such a great accomplishment and we are sooooo proud of him and his team. (I am sure you will soon be able to find more details on this topic by clicking on our link to their site!)
